Courtside Style

Isabel Marant x H&M fringe boots, Adidas Stan Smith sneakers
Gotta make sure the shoes are up to par when sitting courtside. I have to say there's nothing like watching a basketball game with your feet on the hardwood and all the action a few feet away. We've had good seats before but nothing compares to the front row. Plus 1 for a Clippers blowout win against the league's worst 76ers.

Rockstuds: Go Kings Go

Pink Valentino Rockstud Pumps, Isabel Marant x H&M ruffled skirt, Prada sunglasses
Congrats to the 2014 Stanley Cup champs, the Los Angeles Kings! They have a special place in my heart as I will always associate their last championship win a few years ago with the arrival of little k. Perfect time to break out my new Valentino Rockstuds. Love these shoes: the strappiness, the shiny studs, the deep pink color; definitely very different from anything else I own. I'm usually in some sort of Isabel Marant boots or sneakers, but needed something just a little dressier for going out, especially in the summer. The mid height kitten heel is quite comfortable; I just can't wear high heels anymore. Wore some Christian Louboutin Prive heels to dinner last night and my feet were killing me by the end of the night, even though I spent most of it sitting down. Love the pink color of the Rockstuds, a good pop of color for a neutral outfit like this one but also matches a lot of my more colorful clothes. I really lucked out with these shoes; got an amazing deal on them from Saks, plus free overnight shipping, score!

March Madness and Father's Office

I already love lazy Friday afternoons at Father's Office in Culver City, but when you add Day 2 of March Madness, it's perfection. The first Thursday and Friday of March Madness are my favorites; my bracket teams are all still in the tournament, three games on simultaneously, potential for major upsets... I may be second to last place in my bracket right now, but March Madness is the best.
Gotta start with the beer, my favorite Belgian / Belgian style ales
Basket full of sweet potato fries and garlicky aioli
The infamous Office Burger: arugula, gruyere and Maytag blue, caramelized onion bacon topping

Go Orange!

Last night, we headed to the Dome for the Syracuse men's basketball game against Providence.  We had great seats in a booth with plenty of free beer and nachos, so I was happy.  The game was a lot of fun; Syracuse led pretty much the whole way, but there were some close moments.  They are ranked 5th in the nation, I think they'll do well this year!

Final score: 81 - 74 Syracuse

First Clippers Game

At the clippers game, we got free tickets for running the prostate cancer 5k. It's the second half and the clippers are leading the spurs by 12, surprisingly!

Update: ...and the Clippers won, beating the San Antonio Spurs, who had the best record in the league by 5 points, breaking an 18 game losing streak to the Spurs.  It was a lot of fun, Clippers were leading most of the time, Blake Griffin had a great game, I got to indulge in nachos, hot dog and Coors Light, and we got to hang with our friends, J. and D. and their husbands for a great night out!
