Inaugural 2011 Farmers Market

A little sad actually. We went a little on the later side, 11am, but many vendors were already sold out of stuff. Not because it was particularly busy, but vendors were just low on produce to begin with. I think the heavy rain these last few weeks was partially to blame. I'm getting a little tired of winter vegetables already. I'm not a huge winter squash person, and I'm a little bored of kale and roasted brussels sprouts, potatoes, parsnips and carrots and it's been too cold for salad. We only bought some brussels sprouts, beets, salad greens, mizuna, broccoli and parsnips.

Maybe I'm just hating on winter since it's been unusually cold and rainy this winter.  I don't remember using the heat as much in previous winters; we've had it on every night and most days too.  For the first time since we've moved in, our family room roof has sprung a leak, which has been such a pain, not just to find and fix the source of the leak, but also the costly water damage onto the walls and furniture.  When it rains, it pours: in addition to the leaky roof, our electric gate broke (likely from the rain), our patio has been flooding, and we've had people working at our house this entire week fixing all the random odds and ends that have been not working over the last few months.
